Photo Exsplosion anyone?
Recently my husband had to buy us a new computer and it came with vista. Also all of my scrapbooking programs are on cd's and I can't get the cd's to load on here. There is a dvd burner on our new computer but no cd rom. So does anyone know what I can do? Is there a way that I can get our dvd burner to work so I can copy from a cdr disc? LOL, kinda dumb question I know but I'm having scrapbooking withdrawals. My husband hasn't tried to take the cd rom out of the old and put it into the new computer. I was hoping that he would but well guess he just doesn't feel like it and I have no clue how to do that or even if it would work. I guess there would be more to it than just puttin the cd rom in? I would apprecaite help with this. Is there a free download of the photo exsplosion that I could get and would that be safe to do?

Thanks so much for any help. I love this place and I just got to get back on the internet after being off for almost a year. Money thing.

Hi Mommaw.......If your computer is new your DVD drive is for both CD and DVD's. It will read and it will write. Try it....it's a breeze to copy CD and DVD's in Vista.

Yes I have Photo Explosion, so if you have any questions just ask and I'll try to help you with it. Good luck and enjoy your new computer. Maggie

I don't know what brand computer you have but whatever brand it is, usually has a Help Icon on the desktop. Click on it and look for Something Like Copy Disk. It should come up with some answers.

If it doesn't and you can't find anything in your computer's help then you can do this:

Put the CD/DVD in the drive. If it opens up with the Auto Play box choose OPEN and view files.

If something wants to run just say no and click on the exit X.

Then with the Disk still in the drive go to My Computer and right click on your DVD/CD drive.

A menu comes up.

Click on OPEN .

Once the CD is open and you see all the files on them, then highlight ALL files.........RIGHT CLICK on the blue highlighted files and choose COPY from the drop down menu.

Now go to your desk top.

Make a folder for these files. Label it after your CD.

PASTE those files into this folder.

You have essentially copied the disk now to your desktop.

Now OPEN the folder.

Remove the disk from your drive.

Highlight all files in the folder on your desktop. Once they are highlighted look to the bar just above the list and you will find

BURN TO DISK

Click on it. It will then ask for a blank CD/DVD. Put that in your drive and it should burn your disk for you.

After you have burned the disk and removed it from your drive, check the new disk and make sure everything is on it that was on the original.

If all is ok and you have your copy then delete the folder from your desktop.

Hope this helps you!!

If your Computer's Help gives you a software that is already on your computer for copying discs, please refer to that. Open the software and just look for Copy disk. It usually will give you step by step info on how to copy the disk with the software. Then it worries about getting the info off one and putting it on your computer and it tells you when to insert the blank disk. So be sure and check for that.

Good Luck!! I know it works because my computer has only one combination drive and I've copied disks with no problems.

Keep me posted.

Oh Maggie, I'm so frustrated! The darn thing won't auto play, won't open at all. i keep getting insert a writeable cd into the drive! I did what you said and I couldn't get nothing. I just don't know why! I think it's got to (me) the operator. LOL. Thankyou so much for helping me! I did go to the help and it's set to open all inserted cd's and dvd's to open upon inserting them, all of the boxes are checked to default. Errrrrr I'm so having picture withdrawal. And guess what, I found that I have print creations on here. The free trial, but I have it already. I bought it last summer. I have so many scrapbook programs and I can't use a one! Your sweet for helping sorry for my ranting...

Mommaw, if you insert a disc and nothing happens after a minute, go to My Computer. right click on the CD/DVD Drive (Usually drive D:) Choose OPEN. If it opens and all you have is a white page then your disk is empty. If something is on it you can proceed to copy the way I mentioned above.

If you have Print Creations trial version on your computer it is just that....a trial version and it could run out after a period of time.

If my suggestion of just going to My Computer and opening the disk doesn't work and the disk won't open, then you need to call your place of purchase or the place that holds your warranty. Such as hp if it's an hp computer or whichever it is. I will check back periodically, if you need additional help. Most of all don't get frustrated. The problem will get solved eventually. Hugggs Maggie
