determining 1st and 2nd place challenge winners when both have the same number of votes
Hi, I've been wondering how it's determined who wins a challenge when both have the same number of votes? My page in the For the Love of Mermaids got 2nd pl. but had the same number of votes as 1st place;185 challenge votes. It would be interesting to know this answer.
Thanks,
Joyce

Just a thought, the decision may depend if you voted for yourself or not, for example the person who got first place may not have voted for themselves, and their total points are for example 100, but the person who came second may have voted for themself, but 10 pts of their 100 score was by them.... in other words other people only voted 90pts for the one in second place and 100pts for the person who came in 1st place, I do not know for sure that this is how it is done, but it is a possibilty?

title alphabetical order, maybe??? I've seen it in other challenges and the 1st place-2nd place seemed to be in alphabetical order for sorting the awards

I think it is who posted first or the date on the page when it was posted. I am not sure this is it, but seems like I have seen this explained before at sometime'

Thanks for all of your input. The dates were the same for the post. If it's done in alphabetical order that certainly doesn't sound fair! Now I could see the point about voting for your own page.
I would like to see the rules for these challenges posted somewhere that everybody would be able to find them. There seeems to be a lot of problems on this site that are not getting solved. I think that's why so many people I know that are leaving.

Challenge Winners - 1st place ties
All,

We have received a lot of questions about what happens when there is a tie for first place in the challenges. We have fixed this glitch.

If there is a tie for first place, the winner will be chosen as follows.

1. If the score is tied, the page with the least votes to get the same score will receive 1st place.
2. If both pages have received the same # of votes, the newest scrapbook posted to the challenge (the page that reached the score in the least time) will win.

But most importantly, have fun. Don't get discouraged if you haven't won yet. We have new members winning every day.

Enjoy!
