Solicitation
Hi all, I just got a message from support saying that I cannot post any pages with FREEBIES that I have made on them unless I buy a designer membership. They claim that it is solicitation. Huh?

What I don't understand is that I am giving something away for FREE. I am not soliciting anyone for anything. If you want to get technical, when someone posts a CT page and tells where they can go to "purchase" a kit, wouldn't that be considered soliciting? I wrote to support but have not heard back yet.
RaeAnn.... (or anybody for that matter) what is your take on this?

Rae Ann says:
All,

Here are the rules for solicitation pulled directly from our site rules.

Non-Solicitation. The Scrapbook Flair Community is dedicated to providing our Members with the most enjoyable environment possible. A significant number of Members have asked us to minimize on-site solicitations and subsequently, we structured the Scrapbook Flair Community as a commercially restricted site. Solicitation for commercial business within the Community site is forbidden with the exception of certain designated areas such as: Display Advertising, the MarketPlace, Sponsored Challenges or other designated Advertising programs. Areas restricting solicitation include (but are not limited to): Scrapbook Detail pages, Personal Home pages, Forums, Blogs, Groups, Challenges and the Member message system which should not be used for commercial solicitation, or spam email of any kind.

If you would like to advertise your kits or blogs, you are welcome to upgrade to a Designer Membership.

I still don't get it, I am giving away a free frame, I am not soliciting for commercial business. I know sometimes I'm thick LOL, but I just don't get it.

Shouldn't these "gripes" or misunderstandings be sent via mail to support, rather than posted here?

After all is said and done......we, the public cannot help you solve your problem, but support can help or help you understand the rules.

Maggie, I realize that "we, the public" cannot help me solve my problem, but.... RaeAnn posted the site rules here but I still do not see how they apply to a frame that I gave away for free using a kit from a designer that I CT for and had permission to use. Which is why I am asking "the public" to read the above rules and possibly clarify for me why and what it is that I did that is against the rules.
I will send another note to support and see if I ever get an answer.

I don't what CT stands for.Just curious. I got a note several years ago for solicitation, don't remember the details of why or how, just know I complied and no problems since. Support has always been very prompt and polite with any situation I have had. They spent weeks back and forth with me concerning a glitch in my computer with their software. Hope you get the same results. hugs brenda

Hi Brenda, Sorry, CT stands for creative team which means the designer sends her kits to the people on her creative team for free and in return they create pages and advertise the kit.
Thanks for your reply.

Belle, I believe when you work for someone and then offer to give away something of theirs, you are advertising competitive materials of SBF. (My interpretation anyways) xoxoxox

You are welcomed and encouraged to give designers credit in the design credits on your page. However, when you include links to blogs or promote kits or design elements in a challenge, you are promoting (soliciting) those design elements. You are welcome to promote in the designated areas on the site such as the marketplace. To promote in challenges, on your home page or on your scrapbook page, you need to have a designer membership or meet the sponsored challenge requirements.

So in the design credits section we can say WHO the designer is but we are NOT supposed to include where you can get the links... (example) like on their blog, our blog, this store or that store etc?

Bell. you described it bst when you sent me the definition of a CT. You are advertising her product. so to keep it from being advertising you simply give credit to the designer and nothing more. By the way thanks for the definition.

Yes Yvonne, I do CT for Brenda (ditzbitz) and it was with her permission that I created the freebie frame. In the future I will put the links to any freebie frames or wordart (if I even make any more) in the Marketplace.

I am really hurt to think that someone here may have complained just because I was giving away a freebie. There are plenty of other members here that give away freebies, post links to those freebies, and post links to their own kits that are for sale etc. and they are NOT ALL designer members. The rules need to apply to all the members and that certainly is not the case. Yvonne I am sorry if somebody is giving you crap about this too!

Whoever complained has missed numerous opportunities to do so - every day there are kits advertised in the general pages of Flair and many by non designer members - I wonder if the powers that be will eventually catch up with them. I do hope both you, Linda, and Yvonne will reconsider and give it another go. This is supposed to be a fun site and I for one enjoy my daily fix. Hey hey you gals/guys lets just enjoy. Hugs, Joce xxxxxx
