Did a challenge get removed?
I entered a page in a challenge that started yesterday (July 7) and it was listed this morning, but was checking this afternoon and it isn't listed. It was hosted by Lozz and was called Use my Backgrounds...wondering if SBF looked at this as supposed to be a sponsored challenge since we were using her backgrounds???

There is a thread under Scrapbook Flair in the Forum, here, regarding that subject. If you read the comments and Rae Ann's post I think you might have your answers. Hope this helps.

It looks like SBF is playing too hard on this now. I wouldn`t see this challenge as a sponsored challenge but more as a motivation challenge to be creative with some certain freebies.

You are right neeltje, and it seems that this all started last week when they sent out notices to a few of us saying that we had been reported by another member for solicitation. So, it is my understanding (having been reprimanded) for giving away a freebie frame that since SBF has begun the tiered memberships that they have been trying to be more vigilant with the rules, which basically state (support - correct me if I am wrong) if you create something to sell or give away (even in a challenge) you need to be a designer member. Now here is where it get's a little confusing. I believe (still waiting for clarification from support) you can post a page using a kit or freebie that you created but you cannot put the link to the kit. That link needs to be put in the Marketplace. (also, any CT pages that you make, you cannot include the link to the kit, only the designers name and the name of the kit.) I have asked that they post actual examples of what is accepted and what's not in the

forums for everyone to see. Kind of like a "Do this" - "Not that".
I think that would be more helpful than trying to read through the rules and decipher them.

I have been here for a long time, and have never purchased a kit (not that they aren't all beautiful, I just can't afford to)and have given away free wordart, alpha and frames just as a kind of pay it forward for all the freebies I have gotten, so I was VERY hurt when I received the "Site Violation - Solicitation" warning from SBF, saying I had been reported. I thought WHAT? Somebody actually complained because I was giving away something? Really? Anyhow, I am trying to get some clarifications to the rules posted here in easy to follow format, because I certainly didn't completely understand them the way they are currently written. Hope this helps somebody out there in SBF land.

lol, I'd call that a sin of omission. You neglected to post Peaze's question to the forum. I was not directing to any personal items I was directing for an example of what to look for when searching for freebies.

Her question had to do with how to identify quality rather than any specific brand item.

Hope you get your answers, as noted..I mentioned the pixel size of 300 dpi. I didn't steer anyone to any specific item.

Rae Ann says:
Belle15 is correct. We are trying to be more fair in monitoring the challenges and pages. It is ok and encouraged to post a page using a members kit and to identify the kit and designer in the designer credits. However, in order to promote a designer or design elements in any way including links to the stores or blogs or challenges centered around those kits or design elements, you need to have a Designer Membership or pay for a sponsored challenge. It is unfair to the Designer Members who pay for these features to allow members who do not have a Designer Memberships to solicit on the site. We have been somewhat lenient in the past especially since most members do not realize it is against the site rules. We are trying to monitor a little more closely now. We do not catch everything since we allow pages to post to the site in real time. I will try to bump up the soliciting site rules here in the forums more often as a reminder.

and i am not a designer nor do i make any freebies.

guess it was due to me posting links but i have done that for over a year and there has never been any problem.

You need to have a designer membership to post links on your pages.

Maggie, maybe you need a designer membership to be giving people links to free stuff outside of scrapbook flair
Does anybody do anything about this ?
She has scared away so many people from this site, she is patronizing and very intimidating, I have noticed this.

Good Question Stacey, I really don't know the answer. I wish they would put a list together of what is and what's not accepted a list of "Like this" "Not that". Kind of like those books... eat this, not that. LOL!

Why are these challenges not stopped before they are started if SBF feels they are in violation of the rules? It's unfair to those who take so much of their time to make these works of art, only to be viewed for a short time or not at all!

Rae Ann says:
We have been lenient in the past and we don't always see the violations before the challenge starts. We do our best to be fair to everyone on the site. But keep in mind we allow all posts to show real time. So, we have to depend on members to follow our site rules. With new members on the site every day, not everyone realizes that we limit soliciting on the site. Please see my previous post as well as the site rules for what is and is not allowed to promote on the site. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. As this is a free site, we have a small support team and we do our best to respond promptly and fairly.

There are still links being posted today - I think the problem is that not very many people check in to the forum and so miss these posts and reminders. Wasn't there a time when you couldn't add a link because the site wouldn't let it through? I personally don't mind either way.

neeltje says:
If we can`t add any link, we also cannot link to challenges and sample pages, that would make it difficult for callenge owners to announce their challenges and to show what they are looking for in the challenges

Scrapper09, there is no charge for being a member on this site or doing challenges. There are free materials to download, and free posting for your scrapbooks. Paid memberships just allow more of the same. But all in all, I think there is a lot offered on this site for free. I for one have enjoyed my time spent here for the past number of years.
