Just what is goin on in my head and other ramblings, rants and some of the ridiculous!
Can't sleep again...
|
Well here it is almost 3 am again and I am wide awake. Either I cut back on the diet coke or I will just have to become an owl. HOOT.
As the new year creeps in and the Xmas decorations sit in procrastination mode, I think of how much I have to do. Get a job, lose weight, be a better mom, be a better me, scrap MORE...sigh... where is the time in the day people?
I think the the best resolution we all can make it that we just do what we can, as we can. Say good bye to guilt and the other cancers that plauge our brains and just do what we can, AS WE CAN. Sigh.
Easier said than done. I am gonna try to be more like my son this year. I am gonna just get lost in simple thoughts. Enjoy the mundane, and just BE. I think we can ALL take a tip from the young'uns that way....
peace ya'll

So funny....
|
How do I end up with such a cutie? More like how do I end up with such a smarty?? The other night we were out and about for family night. Kristofer pipes up that he would like Christmas music on ...and my dh, all "christmas'd out" (yes already) says, "Oh, I don't want to listen to that...I'll get a headache..."
"DAD.... YOU just focus on your driving...and then it will be like the music isn't even there...."
OH did I crack up....not only smart...but perceptive.... BECAUSE that is EXACTLY what my husband tells Kristofer and I when we don't like he selections.... "just focus on what you're doing and it won't bother you..."
hahahahahaa.... I am sure dh will think twice.

From the mouths of babes comes kindness...

You know, just when as a grown up we get jaded and feel like, "Hey, what's in it for us? What's out there for me?" your kid gives you a wake up call.
Last night we had to work an event for our church, we have a HUGE giving tree in the middle of the lobby and right now there is just a smattering of tags on it. Many are items we just cannot afford since mommy AND daddy have both been struggling with unemployment. But, in truth there ARE tags I didn't even bother to look at that I am sure I could afford.
Anyway, as we were walking in, my ds said "Mom, can I get a tag off the giving tree?" I explained that "Well, Kristofer it isn't for fun or to play with, you'll have to put it back you know..." (Thinking that he had NO idea what this was about..he's just turned 5) He looked at me like I was from Mars and said, "What? Why...I have to bring a present ... not give the tag back..." So we had this discussion and I found out, much to my embarrassment, that he indeed knew that it was a for charity, that it was for us to "help people who need it", etc. and that he REALLY wanted to put a wrapped gift under that tree.
So, of course we found a tag we could afford and will be placing a basket of school supplies for Grady Childrens Hospital under the tree this Sunday. Kristofer is pretty proud and has pointed out that the supplies shouldn't come from the Dollar Tree either because, "I want them to last and be really good, Mom!" LOL!
Well, I guess just when I am worrying all about "me"... I should be glad that we have a little boy that is thinking about the rest of the world. And that is what giving is all about at this time of the year...
Peace Everyone. Cathi
