Goodbye in her Eyes

Goodbye in her Eyes
Living in Cedar Crest will always be the best time of my life. I have a lot of memories here. Most of them are great memories. When I get older, and it becomes time to go out on my own, I won’t know what to do. I know for sure that I do not want to stay here, but I never want to leave. My feelings towards Cedar Crest are ambivalent. I want to be a person, who grows up to be very successful, like a doctor, but I never want to forget where I came from nor do I want to forget my childhood. I am one of those people who cling onto their childhood by every string that they can. I have a pile of stuffed animals at the end of my bed, and I love to play with kids. I am one of those kids who at family reunions, can sit and talk to the adults, or go and run around with the little kids. I am a very versatile person, but never ever do I want to forget anything. I love who I am, and where I come from. I will never let anything slip away from me. I cherish every moment that I have with people because I have learned that they can be taken away from you just as fast as they were given to you. Through everything that has happened to me, I have learned values and morals and even how to let loose and just have fun. I hope that everyone can learn the value of the things that happened to them and where they come from. This is because, in the end, we will always have Cedar Crest.

Out Right War!

Out Right War!
If Austin is known for one thing, it’s air-soft gun fights. It seems like every time that I see him he has a new story. “Oh! Last night we had a war, and I shot Brandon in the nuts!” Or sometimes it’s “Oh my god! Yesterday we had a gun fight, and when Brandon opened the window, ants poured in and I ran outside! When I did, he shot at Donovan, and they shot back and I got shot so many times!” He has a deadly fear of ants. We do not know why. It is always something different with him. He is a very odd child. Being friends with Austin is bittersweet. Sometimes it’s fun, and others, well it can be bad.

Bread

Bread
As I said before, there is bread in Jordan and I’s peanut butter and jelly friendship. This bread is known as CJ. He can be really annoying sometimes, but he is a really good friend. He is one of those friends that will always be on your side, even if it’s the wrong side to be on. For Christmas, we had no idea of what to get for one another, so CJ forced me to go to the mall with him to pick out the perfect gift for Jordan. Of course I did, but it was only for an excuse to go to the mall. When we exchanged gifts the next day, everyone loved what they got. We marveled over our “new toys” and decided to bake cookies. I am warning you now. Never let CJ around you when you are cooking something. He literally destroyed to dough five times, and I had to roll it out again and again and again! He really got on our nerves that day, but we got over it. CJ will be CJ. Even if being CJ is being a two year old hyped up on candy.

The Texas Cowboy

The Texas Cowboy
Down in the heart of Texas, lives one of my favorite people in the world. He tries his hardest every year to come up and visit us, but he cannot always make it. He used to live in New Jersey, then it was Louisiana, but then he moved to Texas. Even though I was not alive when he moved, it seemed that he was moving farther and farther away from us. Thomas says that Texas is a really nice place to live. Every time that he visits, he says that he is a kid again. It’s as if I am a fountain of youth. When he comes up, he loves to hang out with me, but we also love to go to Gettysburg. We are always messing around and acting like kids. Thomas is so used to the heat in Texas, that when he comes, he only brings shorts and flip-flops, even if it is thirty degrees and snowing here. When we went to Gettysburg this past Thanksgiving, it was around 35 degrees. He was freezing, so I gave him my brand new hat that I had just bought. Of course he took it, but he did it reluctantly. While walking around the battlefield, people just stared at him like he was ten feet tall and had four eyes. The hat was the cutest little penguin hat with sparkles and fluffy pom-poms on it. He really felt like a kid again. We just love when our tumbleweed rolls up from down south. We are planning on rolling ourselves down sometime soon. I cannot wait!

The One That I can Always Trust

The One That I Can Always Trust
If you were to ask me who my best friend is, there will always be one answer, and no it is not you CJ. For ten years, I have had the world’s best friend that I could ever ask for. She has always lived next to me, but I never meant her until kindergarten. One day we rode home on the bus, and her dad was late picking her up, and couldn’t get off of work early. My mom simply invited her over until her dad could make it home. That my friend, was the start of the beautiful friendship of Tommi and Jordan. We are each other’s peanut butter and jelly. There is a bread in there, but he’s not important right now.

The Tall Green Leprechaun

The Tall Green Leprechaun
The last member of the crazy family at 613 Hawks Bridge Road is a tall green leprechaun. Dan is deeply in touch with his Irish roots. He grew up in the coalmining regions in Pennsylvania. When you hear him talk, you think that you could be in Ireland! Unlike regular leprechauns in the fairytales, Dan is very tall. He really does love to be Irish. He loves where he comes from and embraces it with a passion. Sometimes we even think that Dan’s blood is green. That is until he hits it with a hammer, and we see that it really isn’t. Dan is the marshmallow to our family’s Lucky Charms.

Eyes

Eyes
Blazing, blue, brilliant, beautiful. Eyes are the window to the soul. My Mother’s eyes. Oh how my mother’s eyes do shine. They possess a beautiful quality all of their own. While most blues are harsh and sharp, my mother’s eyes are soft, like an angel’s kiss. They could calm the maddest of storms. They are the one true thing that can always make me smile. Somehow her gene skipped me. While she has cool and gentle blue eyes, mine are warm and confidant colors of gold. They glitter like a freshly cut diamond in the sun, yet they seem to take on a life of their own when you focus on their detail. They then are not just gold anymore, they are gold, brown, and if you look closely, you will even see flecks of green.

Glynn:Tommi

Glynn:Tommi
Glynn is the scothish word for “Beautiful valley”. You would think that a name as beautiful as Glynn would belong to a professional ballet dancer, or a type of butter fly. The name Glynn is the crème de la crème of all names, but Tommi, is not. How on Earth could a beautiful and graceful thing be paired with such a monstrosity? Tommi gets caught on your tongue. Saying it is like biting into an orange slice, only to find a seed. Where was my mother’s head, when she named me? What was she thinking? Couldn’t I have a beautiful and flowing first name? Something like Bella, or Alice, or even Rosalie would be perfect. Yes, Alice Glynn. Now that is like cutting into a stick of butter that has been sitting out, rather than Tommi Glynn, which feels kinda’ like molasses in the late December.

The One with the Weird Obsession

The One with the Weird Obsession
The youngest of that family is me. What I am most known for is my passion for The Twilight Saga. Ever since 2007, I have been addicted to the royalty of the world of books. The addictive series has kept my attention for over five years, and will continue to for as long as I live. No one can forget the tall, lean, empathic solider, or the small and petite precognitive. Reading the hit series is like entering the Twilight Zone, no pun intended. When you are reading, you feel like you are in the world that Stephenie Meyer describes. The series is a legend in its self. Twilight is the Elvis Presley to the world of literature.

613 Hawks Bridge Road

613 Hawks Bridge Road
If you Google 613 Hawks Bridge Road, you will find only one. This address is the address of one of the nicest, yet messed up family that you could ever meet. In the tall white house with black shutters, you will find a mom who is like Lucy Ricardo, who everyone loves, a boyfriend, who is like a lion, very protective over its family, yet still a very lovable person, and a daughter, who is trying her best to succeed like a teenage boy trying to get a sports scholarship. Each member in the family has had their past experiences. Those past experiences are like kryptonite to Superman. They make them weak, but they also make them stronger.

Trees

Trees
Every yard in Cedar Crest has a tree, and every tree represents the family that occupies the house at the time. The trees in Jordan’s yard are colorful like the paint palette of Pablo Picasso, the trees in Austin’s yard are wild and crazy like a rodeo bull, and the trees in my yard are, well they are an archetype of something that does not belong there. The trees in my yard reach up high and try their best to escape the jaws of this small town life that Cedar Crest represents. Try as they may, the trees will always be this, a big tree that doesn’t belong in such a small yard.

Cedar Crest Cedar Crest has gone by many names throughout its existence. It has been Slapes corner and Sorenson, but the one name that it will always carry, is my home. Our neighborhood has seen many people throughout its years, but the population has mostly always been white, except for Dr. De Castro. Our neighbors go from the nicest people, to the craziest people. Cedar Crest is like the world gathering of crazy people. We have Jordan Burkhardt, Austin Schwarz, and I. Aside from us, there are not very many kids. It tends to get lonely. Cedar Crest will always be this; small, lonely, crazy, and different. Cedar Crest is to normal as Einstein is to dumb.
