Picture Memory Book

I have been very busy working on two digital scrapbook projects for two grandsons who graduate high school this May. One presentation is 100 pages, and the other is over 200. I am waiting for the graduation photos to add the finishing touches. These are "This Is Your Life" sort of picture stories from their babyhood through high school. I then make the presentation into a DVD, which can be played continuously at their graduation parties. These will be the 4th and 5th such presentations I have made.

But my most personal and intimate project is the ongoing presentation of my husband and me, another "This Is Your Life" type. If you have seen or read "The Notebook", this has been my model. Instead of having a notebook journal, written in words, I have constructed a picture memory book which includes notes and comments. I am creating it with the same concept as in "The Notebook". When my aging mind fails to automatically respond, recall and remember, perhaps the Picture Book, or DVD, will assist in reactivating my memory and assist with my recapturing the people whom I so dearly love. A few of the pictures are attached here.

This presentation has changed as I find photos and get new ideas. It has been, and remains, a challenging and fun project. I have separated stages of our lives in "Episodes" identifying the era of our life, such as: "Him before Her", and "Her Before Him", dating, college, military service, babies, growing up our kids, some occupations, empty nest life, grandchildren, and more with the changes life brings on. It currently contains over 200 pages or slides, and there are more to add.

When I think the time is right, I will then make them into printable pictures, and then create a DVD. My goal is to haves 300 pictures. I think the largest photo albums hold about that many. It is a hobby I thoroughly enjoy and a great way to preserve old photos--and perhaps memory as well.

I would really like to be able to "show off" my work online, but the presentation is too massive. So here to showing just a few. And maybe next time I come back, I'll exchange them out.

Posting Accomplished

OK. So I was able to upload 5 digital scrapbook pages of a scrapbook portraying my husband and me. This was fun. And, I see that only 5 pages can be uploaded at a time. Questions answered. And I also just discovered that the pages are available in the blog. That's neat. Now...I have something more to play with in digital scrapbooking.

I thoroughly enjoy digital scrap-booking; that is, taking a photo and creating something extraordinary with it. My main objective is creating a a photo life story for my grandchildren. I take and/or collect all the photos I can get of each, and begin to make a digital scrapbook with their photos. On or just prior to their high school graduation, I print all the photos out, and making a photo-book as well as creating a DVD as a presentation should their parents wish to display it during their high school grad party.

I have prepared three such digital photo presentations and books, and another grandson is graduating this week, which makes my 4th piece of scrapbook work. I have just finished printing out his pictures, and will be working on the presentation in the next two days.

Each one of my presentations thus far includes approximately 200 pages of digital scrapbook photos, more or less. To me it is an extra special gift I am able to give not only to my grandchildren, but to my children as well. I get to share their lives again or relive it anew through their photos and add elements to make their lives glow. It is a tedious work of art. I appreciate each one who participates in this craft. It is a work of great joy and reward.

Some of my children prefer that I not display the scrapbooks on the internet while I still have to talk to a few others about it. But that is why I have not posted any of my on this site, as well as not being exactly sure how to got about it: do I display only a couple of pages or try to display the full scrapbook?

I am also in the process of creating a digital scrapbook of my husband and me--highlights of our life--maybe I will try to display a few, if not all of the pages I have worked on...!!
