I Need Your Opinions & Suggestions

since i joined sbf i had been faithfully voting on challenges, sometimes speedvoting when i don't have time, missing only a few. although i had since changed my voting strategies a few times, the one i have been using for challenges i run or those where i have an entry is this:
1) i pick out my top choices and give them 10 pts - depending on the quality and quantity of scraps in the challenge, this usually range from 3 to 12 scraps.
2) i pick out the second best and give them 6 to 8 pts. depending on how close they are to the standards set by my first choices. occasionally, i find myself giving a 9 though this is rare.
3) i sometimes give a score of 5 to all others, depending on how close the points are. sometimes i skip this or give 5 to only a few.
i vote during the last days of the challenge when most scraps are in. to be completely honest, i give myself a 10 score all the time because if i can't give my scrap a 10 (and there are scraps i've done which i can't), i don't enter them in a challenge.
my question is: you think there's a better way? any opinion, suggestion? how do you vote?

I am only voting for the true depiction of witches. I can't vote for the ones showing mean, ugly ones....... I know your challenge is open to all witches but I would be untrue to my own faith in doing so. No offense meant to any of the very creative pages.

This is an interesting discussion if we can all keep it friendly. everyone of course has a right to express her own opinion. Personally, I wouldn't rule out voting on beautiful witches just because I think witches are generally ugly and vice versa. I tend to vote based on originality or uniqueness of the concept, how beautifully and effectively a concept was executed, its impact or how striking it is, and its ability to make me feel a certain mood or feeling or trigger an interesting thought. Just like film or music, scrapbook fantasy art to me is an EXPERIENCE, positive or negative, that could make me suspend disbelief to be part of it even for a moment. Almost all scrapbooks here does that so it's very hard for me to vote. *lol*

in the end, i think since this is art, it's very subjective and a bit personal so i can't say either that there's something wrong with mo7 voting only for what conforms with her personal beliefs and taste. i think people are just curious about how people vote and what influences voting, the criteria used, etc.

I am a pagan. Depictions of witches is very personal to me. It would be like me making a nasty, mean or ugly picture of Jesus..... you would be offended. Rather than be offended, I said right out front why I would be voting in this way.

I didn't see that this voting was just limited to challenge entrants so my not voting should not keep anyone from getting points. I am not offended nor angry with anyone. We all see things differently........that is why we are all unique.

In most challenges I've just voted haphazardly, if it speaks to me I vote for it but I'm rethinking the value of my votes after reading how you determine yours gypsykate!

In this challenge I, like Mof, have voted for the depictions of witches that speak to my personal belief system because its something dear to my heart and soul :)

scraps that appeal or talk to me personally, i keep in my favorites. *lol* i've so many favorite scrapbooks! when i vote in challenges, however, i do try to be more objective because i'd have to compare my personal preferences with those that aren't. i look at challenge requirements and set some criteria for judging before i even vote. so generally, i think i give a fair chance to all scraps. although sometimes, when i look at a scrapbook, the personal involvement is so strong i'd vote on it before i even see the other scraps it's up against. it helps that i do enjoy a variety of styles and can admire work on a purely cerebral, uninvolved manner but most people i think will just vote for fun and only for those they like. i don't know if there's a right or wrong way here. i think if it feels right is when it's right. *lol* i hope you know what i mean. :)

i agree with kate with the voting system i follow...when i voting in the challenge i try to keep the challenge requirements in mind plus see which of the pages are creative and out of the box and have a unique idea implemented beautifully. If something dsnt meet the requirements i skip over it. the ones i like best are 10 .. second best wd be 8/9 and the rest wd be 7..i hardly vote lower than seven i just skip that page. well thats my two pennys worth. :-)
And yes..i just speedvoted in this challenge because i loved this challenge and wanted to vote very much even if i couldnt create a page myself fr it.. i hope thats ok kate..
Fondly, Dola.

thanks so much for viewing and voting, dola. i also do a lot of speed-voting, going back only to those i had given 10 pts to, if i have time. i also skip some. have a great day! hugs - kate
