The Rule of Thirds is used in photography and art.

Imaginary lines are drawn dividing the image into thirds both horizontally and vertically. You place important elements of your composition where these lines intersect.

As well as using the intersections you can arrange areas into bands occupying a third or place things along the imaginary lines. As you can see it is fairly simple to implement. Good places to put things; third of the way up, third of the way in from the left , you get the idea.

This is the rule of thirds, it isn't nearly as complicated as it sounds, I promise. Just basically pretend there is a grid over your photo, if the intersection of the lines is near a corner on an eye, or mountain peak, or animal, or something like that, It is in the rule of thirds.

If anyone else would like to contribute, please do!

Just put a keyword "rule of thirds" into google search and you get the complete explanation with practical examples. It really is not that complicated as it sounds.
