I guess the best way to explain it is this...the mayor of a town is elected by votes cast by just the people who live in that town. People living outside the town can't vote. I kinda look at the challenges the same way. People who enter the challenges are "citizens" of the challenge so they can vote, but people outside of the challenge can't vote. I agree it is more fair than when members end up winning challenges just because they have many friends who only come onto the site to vote for them and never take part in challenges themselves or even make pages.

Okay okay I see..thanks for your reply to my question oklahomadawn! But I disagree with all in some way. For you to make 15-16 challenges of only "challenge members only can vote", it's kinda of ridiculous I find. I checked all of them and by all means okay for some but all???????? Ca'mon....really? Seriously?
I just want to vote for the ones running in the challenge and I cannot. Oh well, I will not vote then. I try to do my part but I cannot because of some of you doing these type of challenges all the time. I can understand some but all????? Okay whatever.

My opinion to scrapping lee comment: Too many friends when members end up winning challenges??????? I see when you win you don't complain...why you don't have any friends who vote for you or what? I do vote for you all the time...so now, not happy? When you win it's okay but when someone else wins, oh then they have too many friends. Okay okay I see...I have to start not voting anymore and perhaps then I will get some appreciation for my votes and for the votes I want to give and cannot. That's why you don't have votes,'cause the challenges are only challenge members only!" No wonder....maybe you should write about how to improve on making challenges whereas all (people/friends) can vote, maybe then you will have more friends and be happy about it. I totally disagree with what's going on...how can we vote if we can't????? All I read is complaints and excuses. Smile people!

If you understand then great. I didn't and I would off appreciated even more if people would be more honest and upfront and explain things in a civilized English way without going around the bush trying to use politics to make me understand to why challenges are private and what not. When hosting a challenge (challenge owner), as long as the host is following SBF sites rules, I feel it’s rude and disrespectful to question a challenge owner’s choice. If I don’t like the rules, I don’t accept the challenge. Of course, this is just my opinion and I’m being “honest and upfront”.

@Xena, I'm sorry that my explanation wasn't clear. It wasn't political, it was simply an example to try to explain my opinion of why my challenges are mostly members only vote. Maybe a better way to explain it is I don't think the challenges should be a popularity contest. Winners should be chosen by fellow scrappers and on the basis of how well the scrap followed requirements and of course on the opinion of the person voting. Of course anyone can comment and vote "viewing" points, but I still think it is only fair for "challenge" votes to be cast just by the people who created a scrap and entered the challenge.

I agree with scrapping lee and that is why I am now making my challenges members only voting. That will ensure that no-one who is not active on SBF can vote for friends. As Dawn says it will ensure that winners are chosen by merit and how well the page followed the challenge requirements.
