a 7.2 mp camera will take a beautiful picture of the moon, Trishie. I have some gorgeous shots with a 5 MP. You can zoom in and crop on your computer to get it closer. That is where the added MP would come into play. A 10 MP camera will take the same photo and allow you to zoom in and crop, with the end result being a higher resolution photo.
