Remembrance Day is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918.

Yes, we still have one minute silence on Remembrance Day here in Australia. This is a brilliant and moving page. They called it The Great War never thinking another would come along - and you have captured the irony of that in this marvellous work. Very moving.

Lest We Forget! My grandfather, as a career soldier, was with the first troops to leave England for Europe during WWI. He was in the trenches, was wounded (and spent time in Ireland recuperating), and saw such horrible things that he wouldn't even talk to my Dad about it when he was a grown man. My Dad also spent time in the army during WWII. Great page!!

Yes we are into November again and the time when we remember - so much! For British people this is such an important month especially the 11th - red poppy day. Thank you for bringing this important day to the world. Lovely page. I also remember the 2nd WW - we were involved in the evacuation from our lovely island home to the UK. Such memories.
