Jeanette MacDonald became friendly with Nelson Eddy in late 1933.He became more persistent in his marriage proposals.The problem was that Eddy wanted her to retire and raise their children;she preferred to put her career first.Later that month she met the actor Gene Raymond and began dating him.Blond Raymond resembled Nelson Eddy and the two men were sometimes mistaken for each other.Summer 1935:she rekindled the relationship with Eddy. 1937:MacDonald married Gene Raymond.
