In Sweden St. Lucia's Day is celebrated on December 13th. As part of the celebration the eldest daughter in the household dresses in a white gown, red sash at her waist and a crown of leaves and candles. She takes coffee and sweet rolls to every bedroom of the house while singing "Santa Lucia.
A Christmas time institution is Skansen, where the holiday spirit is high in all the houses and farmsteads, and the Christmas table is set as in the old days.

Market stalls selling traditional sausages, cheeses, handicrafts, spices and essences, Christmas decorations, embroidery, leather goods, Skansens own handmade mustard, glass, bread and cakes, hand-knitted mittens, sugared almonds, tallows, honey, marzipan, crisp bread, smoked turkey, jams and marmalades, candy, childrens books and masses of other irresistible items!

Forgive me but I have to do a quick "windshield" tour but didn't want to miss these beautiful pages from a beautiful country! Fabulous! We have friends here from Sweden and other Scandinavian countries and a restaurant always puts on the St. Lucia festival! Beautiful.
