I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE NAME OF THIS MOTH OR BUTTERFLY IS ? I HOPE SOME ONE WILL KNOW , I TOOK THIS PHOTO IN SUMMER OF THIS MOST BEAUTIFUL SPECIMEN . IT FLEW INTO THE KITCHEN .IT LOOKED TOO EXOTIC FOR IT TO BE IN THE UK!

FOUND IT ********* Its called a "RED UNDERWING MOTH" latin is - 'Catocala Nupta' With its wings folded it blends into the bark of the trees. Its red underwings are used to ward off danger. I looked through a lovely book I have called "The Country Year"
