This photo was taken of Cyril Richard Rescorla, B Co 2/7 Cav, by Peter Arnett. It was featured on the cover of the book ‘We were Soldiers once…and young’ which was written about the 7th US Cavalry’s battle in the Ia Drang River Valley in Vietnam. There are two things most people don’t know. First, that Rick Rescorla was born in Cornwall on the English coast. Second, he died on 9/11 saving many lives in the World Trade Center attack.

Thanks for the wonderful truth and description! My husband and myself feel that the horror of 9/11 should be played on television almost every day to remind people of this event. So many people forget so quickly. Of course we must "move on" but that still doesn't take away that we should keep it at the front of our minds. A GREAT PAGE! A GREAT TRUE STORY!
