About this scrapbook page: |
This is what is left at Nannine, a town founded in the 1890's when gold was discovered there. By early 1900 a sizable town and in 1910 a railway linked it to Perth (600km) and was abandoned some 10 years later when gold dried up and the railway went on to Meekathara. An open cut mine was openned in 1985 and the tailings covered the original post office, the last surviving building.
