My mother and her friends loved to party. The first photo was taken in Phoenix in 1948, the second in San Luis Obispo, CA 50 years later, after my mother had had a stroke. She was in her element that day, and loved every minute of it. Nevertheless, her advice to me would still have been, "Don't do as I do, do as I say!"
