My Dad was a very kind and honest man, never cursed, never spoke bad about anyone, the day of his funeral, held at the largest church in town, ours was too small, people still stood on the steps and sidewalk going up to the church to hear the sermon and last viewing. As the long line of cars made its way thru town headed to cemetary, men stood with their hats in their hand and others hands over their hearts. The stores closed for 2 hours during funeral/burial.I was so proud he was my Dad and so respected.

My Dad had just turned 54, 3 weeks before we lost him my Mom was only 48 but she never remarried or dated another man because she said she would never find another man who could fill his shoes, so she has been alone for 44 years now.My treasured items I ask for and she gave to me 2 years ago, are his Bible and love letters he wrote to her when they were dating in 1936. To me they are priceless.

Oh my, this is such a touching page and such lovely memories for you....and how wonderful you have those very special love letters he wrote along with his bible...I have a love letter written by my grandfather (whom I never met...he died when my Mom was just a year old) it was written to my Grandmother before they were married...do people write such letters these days...they are truly keepsakes!
