About this scrapbook page: |
I am wondering if anyone out there can tell me what was going on here?It seems to be some sort of foundry. They seem to be making something, but what?To confuse me even more, there seems to be a horses saddle hanging on the wall!I can see a brush, hammer, shovel etc, and in the far corner what looks like a kiln, of oven of some sort. Can anyone help identify this. It was probably in South Africa, Durban area, between 1914 and 1935,as it was with my late grandmothers items from that era.

I so love these old photos. They have been well cared for over the years, or you have done a fine job with digital restoration. At any rate this one is particularly interesting even without knowing the subjects. I'd love to know more about it as well.

Love your photos! I agree it is a foundry with casting molds. In the background there are so many objects, I believe I even saw a bell, wheels and looks like ingots along with the other items you mentioned.Let us know if you find out anything, you've got us curious!! 10+
