About this scrapbook page:
The reason for eating matzah is symbolic in the Jewish religion: On the one hand, matzah symbolizes redemption and freedom, but it is also lechem oni, "poor man's bread". Thus it serves as a reminder to be humble, and to not forget what life was like in servitude. The blessing over matzah is the same as that over any other bread.
